The Moral Standard, According to the Bible.

The law of Moses was given to human being's to show exactly where the moral standard lies, and it reveals that God is holy, i.e. the standard is very, very, very, high.

The Bible reveals that God is a person, with thoughts, and he's interested in our lives.  Not only is he holy, but he has enormous love and patience.

The Bible teaches that no human being can enter God's presence, due to failure to meet the standard. It is described as if we are clothed in smelly, filthy, dog-faeces covered rags that stink so badly that nobody could let you in to their house, including God.  Furthermore, justice is inevitable, although it can be delayed.

The Bible describes that it is not possible for any human being to achieve this standard (try the Atheist Challenge), and that in fact, we have become stuck in our ways, unable to do much to change ourselves, we have become “slaves to sin”. Sin being the word to describe our broken character/nature and the consequential bad behavior it produces.

 The Bible Solution:

Not only is God holy, and exquisitely just, he is also loving, and has delayed judgment and arranged a solution.

His holiness and justice are satisfied by the blood of Christ, shed on the cross, which might seem strange to you, and was certainly a very unpleasant experience for Him, and you will get a better idea on all these issues if you read in the Bible the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and subsequent books, including Romans, and perhaps containing a nice summary, the book of Acts.

Make sure you read a modern translation of the Bible, such as the “New international version”.

Remember, you yourself have to ask for the solution.  If you do not ask, you cannot receive.  God is very polite and gentle, he will not push his way into your life, you must give your permission.

If you wish to meet Jesus Christ, and accept his offer, is read Revelation (chapter) 3 verse 20. It says to open the door of your heart to Him, and invite Him in.

The secret to changing your behavior/attitudes and subsequent emotions can be found in Luke 11 : (verse) 13, 1st John 1 : 9, and 2nd Corinthians 10 : 5.  Apply your bad behavior/attitudes/fears directly and individually into these verses.

Look for a church where Jesus Christ is the only focus, and is recognized as being “the Lord”.  Walk away from any other church, particularly if they are greedy and want your money, or seek to control rather than liberate you.

Read your Bible, it contains all the information you need.  And you'll find plenty of examples of how God has worked in the lives of other human beings there.  It is my experience that it takes only one touch, from the hand of God in your life to set you free from something that you were stuck with, that had been tormenting you, to turn you from being a cynic into a believer.  They don't call it “amazing grace” for nothing.
